“The main focus of entrepreneurs, whether they are selling a product or service, is to attract customers and convince them to make a purchase,” says Lisa Schneider: managing director of the DSM.

“Being able to afford a marketing agency or full-time marketing manager could be a stretch at first, and communicating brand messages to the public would be a necessity, so essentially entrepreneurs need to do this themselves. Therefore, a thorough knowledge of marketing in a digital context is essential,” adds Schneider.

The DSM says that the explosion of reputable online marketing education providers is good news for entrepreneurs whose schedules are often very erratic and are unable to make set class times – entrepreneurs can learn what they need to about marketing when it’s convenient for them.
